Battery Care & Maintenance Tips to Extend Service Life

Simple, practical habits — correct charging, clean terminals, ventilation and timely water top-up — that help UPS and inverter batteries last longer.

Charge it right

Batteries live or die by how they are charged. Use an inverter or charger matched to the battery type and rating, avoid chronic undercharging, and let the battery reach a full charge periodically. Consistently deep discharges without a proper recharge are the fastest way to shorten life.

Keep terminals clean and tight

Loose or corroded terminals add resistance, waste capacity as heat and can cause reliability problems. Keep connections clean, tight and lightly protected, and check them during routine visits.

Ventilation and water (for tubular)

Flooded tubular batteries need airflow and periodic distilled-water top-up to the marked level — never overfill, and never use tap or mineral water. Sealed SMF/VRLA batteries need no top-up but still appreciate a cool, ventilated spot away from direct heat.

A battery kept cool, correctly charged and cleanly connected will comfortably outlast one that is neglected. If performance drops suddenly, contact us before a failure leaves you without backup.

How often should I add water to a tubular battery?

Check the electrolyte level periodically and top up with distilled water when it approaches the minimum mark. Frequency depends on usage and temperature; hotter conditions and heavier cycling need more frequent checks.

Why did my battery fail early?

Common causes include chronic undercharging, repeated deep discharge, high ambient heat, loose terminals and, for tubular types, running dry on electrolyte. Correct charging and basic upkeep prevent most early failures.
